You may have noticed lately that, during conversations, people are standing a step or two farther from you than usual. Maybe your spouse isn’t kissing you as often as you’re used to. Or maybe you’ve managed to smell it yourself: Halitosis. Possibly the most embarrassing of oral health problems.
At Comprehensive Family Dentistry, Dr. Mark Weglos and his staff provide bad breath management in Langhorne, Newtown, Philadelphia and much of Bucks County. We know bad breath management isn’t easy to talk about – which is why we’ll do most of the talking.
We’ll provide you with literature and education on all aspects of bad breath management, from things you can do at home to techniques and products we offer as part of our Fresh Breath Program.
We can suggest causes for your bad breath, and management options for curing it. It’s embarrassing and uncomfortable, but in most cases, addressing it is a relatively simple matter.
In the meantime, there are several ways you can practice bad breath management at home, so your breath doesn’t start turning people off.
- Bad breath management in three steps: Brush, floss, rinse: Often, bad breath management is as simple as good oral health. Halitosis is frequently caused by oral bacteria, which eats the same things we eat. Proper brushing and flossing will often stop halitosis before it gets a chance to become a real problem. Even rinsing out with water after a meal can reduce the likelihood of bad breath.
- Management by hydration: A quick and easy cure: A dry mouth can be a breeding ground for the types of bacteria that cause bad breath. Saliva has a natural antibacterial action. The dreaded “morning mouth” we’ve all woken up with is the result of poor saliva flow at night.
